Electrical Superintendent

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all onsite electrical construction activities for mission-critical data center projects. This role manages field labor, subcontractors, safety compliance, scheduling, quality control, and coordination with project management teams to ensure electrical systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in large-scale commercial or mission-critical electrical construction, including medium-voltage systems, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and critical infrastructure.

key responsibilities

Field Operations

  • Supervise all onsite electrical construction activities for data center projects
  • Coordinate daily work activities of electricians, foremen, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure electrical installations meet project drawings, specifications, NEC codes, and safety standards
  • Manage manpower planning, productivity, and workforce scheduling
  • Conduct regular field inspections and quality assurance reviews
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address delays or issues

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company and OSHA safety policies
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and job hazard analyses
  • Ensure all lockout/tagout and energized work procedures are followed
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with Project Managers, General
  • Contractors, Engineers, and Owners
  • Participate in coordination meetings and scheduling updates
  • Coordinate electrical work with mechanical, structural, and commissioning teams
  • Assist with procurement tracking and material management

Schedule & Production

  • Maintain project schedules and meet milestone deadlines
  • Identify and mitigate schedule risks
  • Drive productivity and maintain labor budgets
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities

Documentation

  • Maintain daily reports and field documentation
  • Review blueprints, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Track completed work and punch list items

Qualifications

Required

  • 7–15+ years of electrical construction experience
  • 3–5+ years in a Superintendent role on commercial or industrial projects
  • Experience with mission-critical or data center construction preferred
  • Strong understanding of medium-voltage systems, switchgear, UPS systems, standby generators, distribution equipment, BAS, and critical power systems
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and electrical safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred

  • Journeyman or Master
  • Electrician license
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with hyperscale data centers
  • Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or MS Project

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work onsite full-time
  • Ability to walk active construction sites daily
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Occasional travel may be required
