electrical apprentice

An Electrical Apprentice assists licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems while gaining hands-on experience and technical training required to become a journeyman electrician.

key responsibilities

  • Assist in installing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
  • Measure, cut, and bend conduit using hand and power tools
  • Help troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes (like the National Fire Protection Association NEC guidelines)
  • Support testing of electrical systems for proper functioning

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Own hand tools required
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
  • Good hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or acceptance to an apprenticeship program
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems or tools
  • OSHA safety certification
