electrical apprentice
An Electrical Apprentice assists licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems while gaining hands-on experience and technical training required to become a journeyman electrician.
key responsibilities
- Assist in installing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit using hand and power tools
- Help troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes (like the National Fire Protection Association NEC guidelines)
- Support testing of electrical systems for proper functioning
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Own hand tools required
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
- Good hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills
- Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an apprenticeship program
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems or tools
- OSHA safety certification
