Service Electrician
A Service Electrician specializes in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in residential, commercial, or light industrial settings. This role is highly customer-focused and requires strong troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work independently in the field.
key responsibilities
- Respond to service calls to identify and resolve electrical issues
- Troubleshoot and repair wiring, panels, breakers, outlets, and fixtures
- Install and replace electrical components and systems as needed
- Perform electrical inspections and preventative maintenance
- Test systems using meters and diagnostic equipment
- Ensure all work complies with safety codes and standards (such as those from the National Fire Protection Association)
- Communicate clearly with customers about problems, solutions, and costs
- Maintain accurate service reports and documentation
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program
- Valid electrician license (state/local required)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and codes
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential or commercial service work
- Familiarity with panel upgrades, rewiring, and electrical repairs
- OSHA safety certification
