An Electrical Apprentice assists licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems while gaining hands-on experience and technical training required to become a journeyman electrician.
key responsibilities
Assist in installing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
Measure, cut, and bend conduit using hand and power tools
Help troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes (like the National Fire Protection Association NEC guidelines)
Support testing of electrical systems for proper functioning
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
Own hand tools required
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
Good hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills
Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
Enrollment in or acceptance to an apprenticeship program
