key responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs efficiently
- Test electrical systems using specialized tools to ensure proper operation
- Ensure compliance with local and national safety codes (such as standards from the National Fire Protection Association)
- Install lighting, outlets, panels, and control systems
- Supervise apprentices and provide guidance when needed
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program
- Valid electrician license (varies by state)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
